The City of Cold Bay began its existence as a secret airbase for the long range bombers of World War II. At the time it was known as Fort Randle and later changed to Cold Bay when the airbase was de-commissioned. The all weather airport became an ideal re-fueling point for trans-pacific flights from the late 40’s throughout the mid 70’s.
Today, Pavlof Services offers a newly remodeled Weathered Inn with 8 rooms and a brand new bar. As always, it is located right across the parking lot from the best restaurant in town.
